This vessel is called Terracotta Calyx Krater. It was made in 490 B.C. .It is 18.5 inches tall and the diameter is 20.25 inches.  It is used to mix wine and water. It is shaped like a bowl or a pot so the shape is perfect for holding liquids. The embellishment is men putting on fighting gear and it looks like the guy on the right is going to stab the guy on the left with a spear or something. The red figure adds to the idea of fighting because of the blood involved in most battles.

This vessel is called Terracotta Calyx Krater. It was made in 400-390 B.C. . This pot was used for mixing. It is 12 1/16 inches tall and the diameter is 12.5 inches. The embellishment is people dancing and having a good time. People in ancient Greece had a lot of parties and people danced a lot. The form looks perfect for holding materials to mix.

The two vessels I chose are similar because they are both red figure. The embellishment and the thought process behind it was similar. The form was really similar because they were both used for mixing materials. They both look like big mixing pots.

The bands are very different.

I like how complete your descriptions are including the age and size of each. Also, I appreciate hearing your voice in the descriptions of the embellishments, it is an authentic interpretation. If you had to describe the lines in the motifs you are comparing in the third section, how would you characterize the different lines and shapes used?
